Help - rollers!!!!

Postby neilb » Thu May 28, 2009 11:18 pm

Hi all

I bought some rollers off the time trial forum recently. Slippery little devils aren't they?

So far the score is rollers 0 - me 1 (no. of falling offs) .

(and before anyone takes the micky, yes I do use a turbo too and also ride on the road!!!)

I've tried various methods of gaining confidence on them but I'm still a little wary while I'm on. Any super tips to conquer the fears? Do they get easier?

All help and advice gratefully received.

Cheers

Neil

have something either side of you to hold onto when learning to ride the rollers.

pedal smoothly.

relax your upper body.

hold the bars losely towards the centre (stem).

keep trying, you will get used to it eventually!

Wives and girlfriends are the key here, ideally one each side of you  . If that's not an option, use them in a doorway, so you have something to hold onto whichever way you go.

Keep practising, the rollers always take an early 1-0 lead.

Keep it smooooth ... "Be the bike".

If you're holding on to each side, that means you're trying to ride "no hands" and that can be a bit tricky :P

Make sure you are looking ahead, practice that 1,000 yard stare, as if you start to look down then you'll wobble about and start chasing the front wheel from left to right and back again.

try and go faster....from memory, it gets more stable the faster you go.
