That will explain why the levers became so big and ugly with the last release.

Try harder. :D

Harder for what? I use Campag over Shimano because I prefer the way it looks and operates.

I wouldn't get the new Campag as the levers and hoods are too big. It looks ugly and is more difficult to operate if like me you have smaller hands.

Shimano owning Campag (if that is what happens although I'd be surprised) would be a bad move for all cyclists. Most likely to create a lack of choice and competition. Although the competition of late has been even more gears and electronic shifting which are both a bit crap. You don't need any more gears and it makes the drivetrain more fragile, and electronic gears are a pathetic idea unless you have a support car behind you with a spare bike. They've been developing them for years now and they still go mad from time to time and stuff it one gear and won't change. Even if all the gremlins eventually get worked out there's still no point to them so why have them.

I haven't used SRAM but it looks like the best option for those of us without catchers mitts for hands at the moment if you're buying new as the levers are a sensible size.

Fortunately you can still get the "old" kit at the moment because despite what the manufacturers think it does actually still work after a year or two.

That's cleared up that rumour then.
