I kicked off my year with the Corinium CC's (Cirencester) New Year's Day 10. The event is billed as a fun TT and last year there were a few in fancy dress - I'd clocked over 30' on my wife's 'sit up and beg' bike and so was hoping to do better this time round on my commuter/training bike.
Some headwind for about 55% of the U48 course - with a concomitant tailwind for the other 45% - and an eclectic turnout with a three up, a two up, a tandem, a handful with pointy hats and disc wheels, someone out on a very long wheel base chopper bike and at least one on a Cycle to Work Scheme bike. I set off after the three up so didn't have a minute man, or even a two minute man, to target.
I eventually clocked 25' 43" (300W) - although my best 10 time (I've only done 3 or 4 so didn't take much) the power was a little disappointing being down a bit from one I did 10 weeks ago on the same course on a very windy day when I first fitted a powermeter. At least it sets a reference point and I intend to be out for a few more 10s during the year.
