Army CU 25 mile tt 15 August

Postby George » Sun Jul 15, 2012 6:13 pm

Lucy, Carl, Mohammed and myself rode the P881 25 course down near Liss this morning. Overnight rain had dampened the road but everything dried out for the event and we had a great window of weather with not too much wind.
Personally I had an average ride and didn't really get myself up to race pace this morning, but still happy for my team mates who all had fantastic rides :D :D

lucy smashed her PB with a 1.05.51 taking nearly 5 mins off her PB :D

Carl had the ride of the day and smashed it with a 54.53, he was on fire and got runner up for the whole TT :D

Mohammed joined the sub hour club for the first time and still was not happy with his ride :D

I could only muster a 57.08, must try harder

Carl went straight off for a MTB enduro afterwards chapeau dude!!

Ace ride by Carl to finish with a sub 55 today! Well done to Lucy and George too.
2nd 25tt for me and a 50s Pb with a 59:53 but IMO rubbish ride - legs not really responsive from start of w/up and they felt 'constipated' throughout tt. May be due to me lowering saddle position which resulted in severe pain in h/strings at end. Will revert back to normal position.

Hey George, can't fly everytime. Mo, well done on going sub hour. A PBs still a PB and only your 2nd 25 don't be too hard on yourself.

Brilliant rides Lucy and Carl, very pleased for you both.

Well done guys :D Great ride by Carl ... interested to hear how the MTB Enduro went??

Strange day for me ... went to the wrong village hall  Got to the start ok (and in plenty of time!) but there was no one to push me off ... fortunately a man arrived with seconds to spare, and I was off. Legs felt rubbish, not sure why, really heavy like pudding :? Thought my brake was rubbing, and nearly stopped. Things got better after the first loop, especially after I'd work out the roundabouts and had people up ahead to chase.

1st lady did an amazing 59 something, wow I'd love to come in under the hr one day ... But 2nd lady for me today, with a time that I should be happy with, and a new pb :D

Note to self ... fill up car with fuel day before time trials, and not nearly run out on the way home  I can now confirm that there are some nice single track lanes off the A3, after I headed off in search of a garage that had some diesel as I didn't think grinding to a halt in the new Hindhead tunnel was the best idea!!

Get yourself that disk wheel Lucy it will shave mins off straight away :D, very well done on your pb yesterday and 2nd lady. The mtb enduro was a disaster. I started at the back and got caught behind the slower riders on the 1st hill about 5 mins into the race. Got off to push the bike up the hill started running with bike to try and pass some slower riders and my (still injured) calf popped again so i limped back to the start called it a day and went home, in hindsight i should have gone for a nice ride in the hampshire lanes after the ride to top the miles up
Mo cracking ride sub hour and still not happy!
Good luck in your 24 next week you absolute nutter
I was surprised to finish faster than George and get 2nd place in the TT. Lots of peeps coming back to HQ saying it felt like a slow day but i felt pretty good getting my 25 pb of 54.50. Seb Ader won it in 52. something
Nice course up and down the A3 in north Hamps not flat by any means but you can keep a nice tempo going on a decent road surface, it was also run early enough this year to keep the traffic count low unlike last year when there was a huge amount of traffic trundling by on a bank hols making it feel very unsafe
