Thursday Night Handicap

Excellent to see a good bunch of ACCers out. With Rob and Tony Kelly making appearances, along with Brian Tidey, myself and the infamous Toks in his debut SL Handicap.

Toks went off in the first group with Rob, blimey what a swizz, Toks on your next appearance I think I will have to appeal against that. According to all accounts Rob and Toks were the driving forces in their group.

In my group Brian Tidey, Simon H and I were put together. We had quite a large group but the through and off never really got going. I think the group was probably too big and there were a few weaker riders in there that did not fancy doing a turn on the front. I was getting a bit upset at times but that is racing I suppose.

Enough winging back to the action. With about two laps to go my group got caught by a few fast second cats. Including Phil Sheehan from Mosquito Bikes who was absolutely flying. We managed to get onto their wheels and stick in. Then the elites came on board and one guy just seemed to fly past everyone like they were standing still, it was really impressive.

I am not sure when but we soon caught up with Toks group. Rob and Toks positioned themselves really nicely up towards the front of the main peleton for the final hill. I was not too far down on them but it was difficult to get up to the front with the number of riders.

Into the sprint and I got sandwiched by Simon H and a guy from Redhill on the final hill, I managed to get around them near the top and then bombed it down the other side to the finish line on the inside. I have absolutely no idea where I came, but I think that Rob was the highest placed Addiscombe rider, not bad for his first race of the season.

Next week is the ACC promotion so any help will be greatly appreciated meet at Newchapel Village Hall for 6.30pm.

Cheers
