Kingston Phoenix 10 - 14/6

Back on the G10/42 Holmwood course today for the first time in ages. I was just about to start warming up when a shower arrived so went back inside to sit out out as I had time, it threw it down for 10 minutes and then eased so I went out.

I was off number 2 so not a lot on the road when I was racing, seemed to be going okay and was making my legs hurt, finally feel as though I'm getting the fitness and speed back. Not there yet but in the right direction as I can make my legs hurt now, wasn't fit enough to do that a month ago.

It was quite breezy with the showers around and the return leg was hard work in to the wind. There was a very brief squall accompanied by a big slap in the face of wind just as I started the Red Chilli drag, gone in a couple of seconds but robbed some momentum in to the drag.

Finished with 24:11 which I was pretty happy with in breezy weather, just a shame I couldn't nick a 23.

I didn't hang about too long so don't know who won, Steve Kane was top with 21 dead when I left with Wheelers fast boys Steve and Rob to come in.

A great event as ever by the Phoenix with lots of marshals, a massive post race spread and good organisation. They're a nice friendly bunch too.
