First running of the new Horsham course this morning, a 2 lapper.
PVT was off half an hour in front of me but must have shot off afterwards as I didn't see him.
Reasonable morning although I wore arm warmers. My legs felt wooden early on and took until about 8-10 miles before they just ached from effort rather than deadness.
A good course though and I liked it. Should be fast on a decent day, there was a rising breeze today and the second lap was harder going for wind than the first. Chatting to Pete T and Lee T after and they said they also found it quite hard going, getting harder, so it obviously continued to pick up for the later fast boys.
Pete T won in 52:35 but on a good day I think he'll do a 50 on this new course. For me I think it should be a consistent sub hour course when I'm fitter as I did 1:01:37 with Paul piping me with 1:01:19.
Ride of the day? Ray Dare who did 1:12:26 for a new age record at the sprightly age of 88! He's hung up his racing wheels about 5 times before but he said this was definitely the last or his wife would give him what for .
