Another SPOCO SE trip into Essex yesterday. I hadn't ridden this course (E7/25B) before, and hadn't appreciated quite how far away it was - almost all the way to Harwich. So, with a start time of 8:08 an early start was on the cards. As it turned out, I could have had another hour in bed, because the start was delayed for an hour due to late arrival of the race numbers at the HQ.
I used the hour to have a drive around the course and then have a snooze in the car (which led to a minor panic when I woke up 25 minutes before my start time).
Quite an interesting course; two laps of a circuit of lanes, B-roads and two short sections of A-roads.
Had a fairly uneventful ride and my dodgy knee seems to be slowly getting better, which is good. Finished mid-table (17th out of 33) in 1:07:40. Improved position vs one of my previous counting events which is the main thing. I reckon I've got the SPOCO SE handicap competition in the bag now (fingers crossed and all that).
