I was the only agreeable riding this event on Saturday evening (6:00 pm start!) on the H25/1 Aldermaston course in strange conditions.

Arrived at HQ to be greeted by light winds and 25 degree warmth - things looked good but it started raining while I was warming up . A mile into the event and the heavens opened with torrential rain which meant having to negotiate huge puddles and taking the roundabouts at walking pace. Thoughts of packing surfaced as I passed the HQ on the way back from the first turn but I seemed to be going ok so I decided to carry on to the next turn and see how things looked there. Things looked good so pressed on for the second lap which was easier with the rain having more or less stopped (but huge puddles remaining). Passed the time-keeper in 59-21 so I was glad I didn't pack, though I did have to throw my ruined socks away.

Good result. Sorry about your socks. The sacrifices we make for our sport! :)

wicked time Steve - just think if you'd thrown yer socks away before the start the resultant weight loss might've got you round even faster! Then again.....

Soopah fast!

We-hey under the hour in the pouring rain! Nice to have had a sociable start time as well.

Always better to throw socks away than resort to wearing black socks on a bike, a sartorial abomination!
