Eelmore circuit racing

Took the trip down to Alsershot tonight to have a ride in Agiskoviner Eelmore criterium.

As this event takes place on millitary land, there were 150 Gurka's just finishing off their training for the day, as I was warming up round the circuit they all ran across the road at the haipin just as I was coming round, it was funny their English sergeant called them all a bunch of idiot's:lol:

Well the weather was foul tonight and I was umming and arring wether to use my Bora's or not, It was tipping it down and there was a loads of surface water and a tight hairpin but I took the plunge anyway.

3,4's off first then us E,1,2's shot off in catch up mode nearly a lap later, the course wasn't too long about 1 mile just up and down a strip of land with a pair of corners , one of which was a haipin. Up the finish straight it was slight drag uphill and into a nasty headwind.

We made good progress the dozen or so of us and caught the 3'4's after 15 mins, then we were a big group of 30+ riders.

Alot of riders were pulling out with punctures and ALAS I had one after 20 mins, luckily it was near the finish line so I pulled over and my mate Ian got my spare front ready which I soon swapped and hopped back into the action on the next lap.

I used tghis little rest to help propel me off for an attack on the next lap, I went for it up the incline into the wind and pulled a slight gap, no one was on my wheel and I managed to stay away for a lap or so until I was dragged back.

Just as I was recovering a couple of Agiskoviner rider sneaked off the front for a decisive break, I wasn't able to respond so stayed tuck in. They pulled out a respectable lead and looked good to hold it to the finish if we didn't get too organised in the bunch.

A couple of riders in the bunch were quite verbal, I kept hearing go on Addiscome, do that Addiscome mainly coming from the institutionised military Agisko rider who had briefed us, I'm guessing he was from the Army so I replied back OK SARGE!

I was loving the tight wet corner and could really make up 10 places going round the inside of people
8) , they were just taking it too gingerly for my liking, although I did go past the limit of adhesion on one or 2 occasions :o

8 laps to go I tried to bridge across to the pair up the road but didn't seem to have the legs tonight to make it stick.

We were catching the 2 ahead and with 1 lap to go the pace was much faster and they were within spitting distance, but good for them they just managed to hold us off to the line.

The bunch sprint was fast and I couldn't get too much power out tonight so just finished outside the top 10, still had a good mid week training race under my belt, should set me up nicely for racing this weekend.
