not an auspicious start to third cat racing

I've had a chest infection and judging by how sh1t i felt from about 10 minutes into the race I prabably shouldn't have started.

Fell off the back just after lap 2 and did one lap by myself before throwing in the towel.

However If I'd been at full strength I have no doubt I could have finished at the very least in the bunch and I'm just hoping i'm fit for Dunsfold next week where i intend to redeem myself big style

So glad I had a lift home as the state I was in I doubt i could've made it home on the bike.

Paul have Pmed you.

To each their own of course Daniel but I'd make sure that Chest Infection had completely really cleared up before throwing myself into the Road Race, especially in sub optimal temperatures. I know a 2nd cat from last year who basically didn't allow a chest infection to clear up and it lingered for approximately three months :( . Be careful mate
The 2/3 rather than the 3rd cat option was always gonna tough especially without race pace training. Well done anyway mate, its very eary days so nothing to worry about

Thanks for those kind words Toks, that was exactly my take on it, and it was good to know what i need to do as in the past I have hung on to the finish, and good to remember what it is like to ride in a fast moving pack again. The speed was OK on the rolling sections, but really kicked off on the climbs, where I started to suffer, although only getting to 165bpm was due I think to a late boozy night the night before (still a bit unsteady that morning) which wasn't the best preparation.

That's the season opener over with, and great results from George etc
