Yes Sean a very nice day, just a shame about the hills in the way.

Oh dear I do look rough (and bald) in that photo  .

Legs still not working so another poor time of 3.01 for me. Paul and Mike got lots of admiring glances for riding the most unsuitable machine up the hill - a full on racing tandem complete with tri-bars  . Cracking effort guys and you looked good going up.

Again the other Agreeables put in more respectable performances than me, and top work Mike who went again solo and still did a decent time. Again Adam still flying and another corking time.

This was one by Dan Lloyd of Sean Kelly's team, alas the great man himself wasn't there.

Thanks again to all the Addiscombe on the hill for bellowing at me, it seems to take ages to reach the crowd but as soon as you do it gives you a real lift.

Despite getting steadily worse race by race over the 4 hills weekend I think I'll still do them all next year as they're good fun in that oddly masochistic way, be nice to have some yellow company on the Saturday next year.

Great pics - a DNS for me. Snoop Junior has been vomiting for England the past 36 hours - St Helier hosp as glad to see the back of us as we are them. Home again and hoping for a steady night. Shame - I'd been looking forward  to another crack at this - still, there's always next year.

Anyone know what time the lanterne rouge was  ??

Good to see LCS back online. Image 54 scares me though!

Pics from my Dad in ascending (as in going up the hill) order.

PVT and Mike in close up grimacing action on the tandem.

Paul D near the top trying to out-stare his stem (honest I typed that before spotting the DE)

Again, the ride from the Botley Hill Farm Pub to sign on then to the start was perhaps not an appropriate warm up. But I was certainly feeling the mornings effort in my legs as I started off on this climb.

I tried to stay seated for as long as possible, but I was forced out the saddle much sooner than I had hoped. As I got to the crowds I just felt like I got going, yet at the same time a kind of emptyness was ever present meaning I failed to give a true account of myself.

I definately spent too much time sitting around at the pub before the afternoon event. Oh well, it's only a hill climb and I was never likely to threaten the £1000 with one of the countries finest pro's on the start list.

Good fun though, weirdly. Certainly underwelmed with my performances, but like I said on the Catford post I didn't train for these events, nor really ever take them that seriously. C'est la vie.

The season is now over for me, a few weeks off then the assualt on 2009 begins. Watch this space.

A few pics I found on Flickr...

No it's too embarassing. I think I was 4th from last on the Bec  .

Glad you said that Adam. I thought the same about the 4 over the weekend - they're only short what damage can they do - but the cumulative effect did seem to count as I got worse on each one. That said the Catford and Bec I like watching too much so did zero warm up as I was enjoying watching and shouting too much :D . School report for me is definately "must try harder" next year. I also fall in to the trap of not wanting to look too rough when getting to the crowd so go too easy at the start  .

George in answer to your question on the other thread I think the Catford one is a harder hill, just.

As to times and placings lets just say there's room for improvement. Next years got to be at least sub two and a half minutes. I could make excuses about having a cold and spending Saturday drinking Lemsip Max and watching day time telly, but I won't
As to which climb is easier, I prefered Yorks. Its narrower and twistyer so has got a bit more character. The kicks are steeper but not as long as on White lane, but they both make you puff a bit

Andrew in the youtube bit, you could of knocked 10 seconds off if you rode in a straight line  but I bet having wind helped.

Good effort by all involved, I didn't even know it was on, I drove past in on Sunday but didn't realise what the event was.

I had also seen Paul riding home after the event, I think I honked the horn too loud, sorry Paul :D

PS Great picture of Dan.
