Chloe at Chertsey
I was a bit concerned that with multiple Dynamo's and Kingston Wheelers in that race (and the fact that chloe had shown her hand the week before) there might be some team tactics to overcome but in the grand tradition of mainly 4th cat racers there didn't seem to be enough organisation to allow this to happen - (sort your new team mates out Maria )
Fortunately Hannah (as an ex 1st cat and divisional champ) was primed to look out for the interests of the PDM squad (That's Pink Dream Machine not the late 80's classic team of Theunisse, Rooks, Kelly, Lemond et al ) in the event of any bullying by Dynamos. But that never ensued as the PDM squad ended up steering clear of trouble by spending far too much time on the front (again ) which possibly cost her a win but it was not the glory or the extra training we were after today - it was simply that 3rd cat licence cos the PDM squad is not going to be able to race for a few weeks now due to her running commitments. So job done mighty impressively if in slightly unorthodox fashion
In the final analysis Hannah (who was rolling back the years having not raced on the road for about 3 years) rediscovered the joys of circuit racing and went for the win herself, finishing with a big smile on her face and, later, tall tales about how she's gonna get back into it and resurrect her career and win.... yadeee yadee yah.
Anyway if you're wondering what the PDM squad does for recovery - this morning she ran 12 miles at roughly 1:32 half-marathon pace. BEFORE WORK!!!
Rob W at Chertsey
In other news Rob Wright who is far too busy and modest to report himself - finished comfortably in the bunch of the men's 4ths. Only his second race and unlike Chloe he WAS out for training purposes so consequently spent a bit of time on the front, chased and instigated a few breaks and generally got very involved. Rob learned his lesson in the later laps when completely boxed in on the right, he had to watch the break go up the left unable to respond in any way at all. Training group riders will be aware that Rob is more than capable of holding his own in this sort of company and confirmed that he was feeling good all race and "strong enough to be involved in the sprint." We expect great things as he really enjoyed the circuit and is hungry for more.
Paul on the Pearson at HH
POTP raced at Hog Hill and discovered first hand that this circuit is like no other. I'll let POTP fill in the details himself and he intends to go back twice more in the coming weeks
General
Good to see so many faces out racing at the weekend end and a pity that there were no ACC entries in the E123 race at Chertsey where Steve Calland and Stu Bowers (Hannah's other half) had a tear up at the front. It's only the 1st March though and a lot of our guys are threatening the Surrey League this coming weekend so look out for further reports next monday
