Hillingdon - 19/07/05

Postby David Lombari » Wed Jul 20, 2005 9:35 am

A very autumnal feel about Hillingdon last night with dark, gloomy clouds being whipped up by a fiery wind but thankfully no rain.

Race pace was fairly easy going most of the time thanks to the weather conditions. Unfortunately a crash somewhere around the halfway point took out the other two ACCers, Ajay and John Hemming, as well as another rider who seemed to have facial cuts. It was anticipated that John had broken his arm, though hopefully that was an overestimation of his injuries, and that Ajay was shaken but not stirred (is he ever?).

The race continued and finished in a bunch sprint, or so I thought. It was rumoured that three guys jumped onto the E,1,2 race when it went by which, if true, is a bit of a joke. After two dnf?s at Crystal Palace I was glad I finally finished a race but didn?t feel too happy because of the crash.

Best wishes to John for a quick recovery.

Oh God - that's such bad luck. Get well soon Jon.

John dislocated his elbow - and fractured his arm - the doctors put it back in place. He will kept in for a few days for more treatment. He is at Uxbridge Hospital, Lister Ward.

They let me out and I'm back home now, working out how to do things one-handed. I need some top tips from Alex.

Many thanks to super-Ajay for coming to the hospital with me while I got x-rayed and stuff.
And well done Dave on a good result.
