well done George and Sylv, being a few riders back I had a good view of you two. Sylv, I think you were doing too much work at the front, although no one seemed to be willing to take their turn. I found if very hard to move up through the bunch, too fast on the down hill and too bunched up on the uphill part, only in the last lap or two when the speed picked up could I move up but too late then ! For alot of the race I was near a DP rider who kept on cutting me and others at the lower left turn corner so made me edgy, I kept on passing him on the up hill but he pulled it back going downhill, next time will try to get more near front. Anyway a great race and a great victory! Soon we should have 2 ACCer's in the E/1/2 race??

At one point kieran I did 1.5 laps and no-one would come past even though I felt like I was going slower and slower :-) Was a weird race, almost 1mph slower than last week. Half of the time up the climb the pace would come to a crawl, maybe because of the slight headwind (was a tailwind last time), except when someone upped the pace then everyone followed. Talking to Polish Andrew after the race the climb is the place we had time to drink this time.

I realised if you want to attack up the climb you have to commit 100% to it, not give a few hard pedal strokes, look behind and ease up if you see the gap is not big enough to be able to join the bunch again - it's all or nothing. Wasn't up for it this time but I would love to see how much time you can gain going crazy speeds round the corners on your own. Maybe next time!

I did notice that the speed wasn't too quick Sylv too!

Thats why I decided to go it alone, I really did have to give it everything to breakaway

I just went knowing that with that much effort I would either get away easily or die and be swallowed up, maybe only one chance to do that in a race.

It does seem to be easier work staying near the front.
I remember last year struggling at the back and having to keep sprinting to get back on, which is even harder.

the racing does seem a bit different to last year, maybe we're getting Eastway sprinters who don't want to do a hard turn on front? Unlike last week when I cramped I was fine this time and had enough energy left to speed home in time to catch my children before they went to bed.

Toks where woz you? Leaving Tim and one or two other mozzies to the mercies of Warrick?

Stu I did a bit of riding in the grass after overcooking the first left hander, but the best was George - he literally went off-roading

It sounds stupid and soft but I've been suffering with hay fever like you wouldn't believe for the last couple of days. In the E12's, for me at least, no other discomfort is needed its simply so bloody hard. If I was a 3rd cat ( I will be next year if I don't start racing regularly :( ) I would've race, no probs.

Don't get me wrong I'aint bothered about getting dropped but yesterday would've been hopeless unless i could've persuaded them to race at 85% of MY max. Anyway to make up for it I'll try and race with the my peers - the old fellas at Hillingdon tonight. Are you getting close to that top 10 finish yet?

Er , cough, I should be, I think I'm doing enough training, maybe my genetics are holding me back  Actually I think I need to get some more race sense - 2 times in Palace I was too far back in the final sprint and at Chetsey MOD I read the lap board wrong twice and went off in both the 3rd and 2nd last laps thinking they were the final ones  so had little left for the final sprint.

George, this is the guy I was talking about in "on any Sunday" - Malcolm Smith - reminded me of you as he was always smiling even after the toughest races (which he'd win)

I remember him now, he was one of the top American Enduro riders.

He has an off road apparel company named after him.

He was sucessful in the ISDE six days enduro of past, I rode the ISDE in Portugal a few years back, now that was tough racing.

When I did a bit of off roading on the first corner on Tue it was very reminiscent of my motocross/enduro years.

"The Smiling Assassin" :D

Is it me or does Kevin always look like he's trying to remember where he's left his keys on racing photos?
