Hi everyone,

Apologies for not posting sooner.

Wow that was weird...one minute i'm coming round the final bend in a good position the next thing I know I’m on the tarmac with a load of other riders an ambulance and Sylv and Kevin asking me if I’m ok!

I’m getting a few memories now of panic and noise but that’s all I can remember of the crash itself.

I just want to say a big thank-you to (in no particular order):

Carl…for driving me there and back and generally sorting me out even though he crashed himself.
Sylv/Kevin/Keiran/Andrew for picking my bike/licence up and making sure I was sorted.
Sean for calling me to check I was ok (so sorry I did not call you back Sean…I was driving at the time!!!)
Everybody else who has taken the time to ask if was ok on this forum

So sorry to here about the other crash and particularly Simon’s injury, I know how much work he puts into his training and racing and he will be gutted about this particularly if it stops him working….all the best mate.

Hopefully I will be down at Palace on Tuesday…..to watch!!!

Thanks again everyone…what a great club…
Matt Robbins

Glad to hear you aren't seeing little birds anymore Matt.

Sadly Stu didn't get 12th, although the crash threw people forward they finished about 10 yards from the line, don't think the last 1km rule applies in the Surrey League. :)

Good to hear from you Matt! Was your helmet really split?

Definitely come to watch Palace, I personnally can't wait as it promises to be entertaining viewing with George, Paul H and Adam menacing to join the ACC ranks this week! I had to restrict myself from having beers after our mtb ride yesterday as I know how hard it will be to try and keep up with these guys tomorrow!
If membership included Personal Accident cover for racing

Gold membership does include it, although it is not terribly generous.

Yes indeed and don't forget Philip Watkins too who also rode in the yellow and black a few years ago when you could count ACC 3rd cats on one hand :D

Here's some better pics of the crash for those that want to relive the gory details:

http://www.cyclingphotos.org.uk/index.asp?Mainpage=http://www.cyclingphotos.org.uk/chertscrash.html

The photographer wrote:

Anyway, I've put a sequence of 3 shots together and my reading of the Cat 3 (first) crash is that GPD was overlapping the rear wheel of the guy in front (blue/yellow top - Kingsnorth International?) when he (guy in front) suddenly pulled over to the right taking down GPD -- it really needs another frame but look how far the blue/yellow top has moved to the right in the final shot -- in the middle shot he is behind and a couple of metres to the left of the Southwestern guy -- 2 secs later he is directly in front of him.
I'm not making any judgement 'cos I've never raced!!

Adam you should contact the photographer - he has left you out of those photos!

I understand a bit more - and I hadn't seen Simon (right behind Matthew, shots 1-2) in previous photos
