[quote="Paul H"]Talking about ringers, how is your mate that worked for you in our Club's Road Race Champs? Has he paid his subs yet?

I don't know, ask the membership secretary. Apart from which, my friend is now residing in New York, so I doubt he's too fussed.

Are you suggesting without his help that you'd have beaten me in the sprint?

Of course not you are a better sprinter than me plus I did a 5k running race an hour before the race. George and Marek's break or another break may have stayed away though.

You seem to have an issue with George and Me doing 3rd cat races which we are entitled to do but think it is ok to get a non ACC member to work for you in our club race which I would say is breaking the rules - is this not double standards? Would a decent 1st cat rider really need a rider to help him win against 3/4cat riders with no team mates. If your mate hasnt paid his subs, I think you should on his behalf.

(just to stir things up a bit as it's gone quiet) - I think Paul is suggesting Adam has a "special friend" who helps him clean his bike in the evenings. I think I also heard Adam commenting on Paul's "puny runner's legs" the other day

Paul, listen mate. I'm not taking issue at all, just pointing out the alternative view, as I do to most discussions on this forum. If you and George get something out of winning a race that you know you shouldn't be eligable to ride, thats fine by me.

I think you'll find in the ACC race all the riders in the bunch contributed to the chase, including yourself, therefore creating the opportunity for a bunch sprint. My friend signed on for the race barely minutes before the start, just for a laugh. Remember I am not ACC race champ, that would be Stu, I just crossed the line first.

C'est la vie.

I sat at the back of the bunch when you were chasing George and Marek and I was not talking about just that situation. It was noticed by others that he was closing gaps for you during various parts of the race making getting away in a break a lot harder. If you can honestly say that isnt the case, he was not working for you and had no impact on the race result in your favour, then I will leave it there.

I would say that only genuine members who have paid their subs should be allowed to race though if that isnt the case already.

[quote="-Adam-"]But thats not the point, you cannot compare the severity of two races based upon average speed. Firstly, surely as a tester Snoop you can appreciate that weather conditions would be totally different 4 hours apart. And also, the dynamics of the two races would have been totally different.

I'm sorely tempted to say that I've never raced the same course 4 hours apart, however I'll leave that in favour of....Pah! I laugh in the face of wind

Sittin here watching comic relief can't decide if I'm getting more joy from that or from reading this prickly little number  Thanks y'all

Ok, I would have won that race whether Tom rode or not, happy?

It wasn't me that had the say so over whether he was allowed to race or not, the fact is, he was.

That hasnt really answered the question. Was he deliberately riding for you or was it just coincidence?

ditto George and me with the exception that we didnt pretend we were going to join a club.

Adam and myself agreed sometime ago that we were each fair game on the forum and im assuming we are still playing by those rules.

Absolutely.

Paul and I will probably share a warm embrace at CSS tomorrow... :P

Nah, but seriously, it's all healthy discussion, right!?

Sorry, your honour. Forgive me, but I have been partaking in the cross examination of expert witness reports this week at uni, so I am in the legal mindset.

Whats entertaining me about this thread is just how far off topic it's gone!

Nicely sidestepped. Answered more like a politician I think.

By coincidence on the day of the Addiscombe road race I was doing two 10s on the same course with half an hour between them. The first was on my road bike and the second on my TT bike. If we take the TT bike as having benefits so that would obviously equate to being the 2/3 race, and the normal road bike would be the 3rds only race.

I was quicker second time out on the TT bike so obviously the 2/3 race should've been faster as well, therefore Team Addiscombe were putting in a superior performance in the first race last Sunday.

I think you'll find that's a pretty conclusive argument, well done chaps.
