Hampshire Road Club 10 P881

Late afternoon start for me and Steve Davies in this 10 mile TT down in Hampshire on the A3.

The weather was not too warm, a little blowy but at least the rain held off till after the finish.

I was off with plenty of time for a super warm up session.

Then Disaster struck!! about a mile past the start area there was a loud hiss and I soon realized I had punctured the tub on my rear Corima disc. I asked Julia Shaw if she had a spare to enable me to ride back to the HQ to pick up my Bora but no joy,
I gingerly rode up to the start to see if I could get a wheel, no joy there either
I didn't know what to do cos I only had around 15 mins to get back the 2 or so miles to the HQ then back to the start.

Then finally the nice chap marshalling the roundabout lent me his wheel which enabled me to get back and change mine, then quick as I could ride back drop off the marshals wheel and get to the line in the nick of time. :D

Finally I was off on my way and flying up the DC with a tail wind helping to get me uphill to to the turn in a good time.

The run back was slightly more downhill but with a slight headwind to keep me on my toes, so pushing the pedals down hard was the name of the game to finally see that chequered flag.

Felt good and powerful today, I'm sure I would have PB'd with the Corima but even so very happy with my time, I'm sure I would have beaten Lee Turner 20.55 without my pre race trauma.

George 21.01
Steve 23.35
Julia Shaw 21.22
Jerone Walters 19.39

I love it! As I was reading this there was all kinds of war film, dambusters never say die music in me noggin. George, you are a proper inspiration mate. Living proof that talent ain't nothing without persistence. Rock on feller the next PB is coming soon. 8)

Another fantastic race George, and the startline trauma must have had your heart up to speed early. Well done Steve, see you on the Bentley again soon. Julia is a real inspiration too.
