It was fun, I was in the 2nd group but after 2 laps we caught the first group then had a wragged TnO for a few laps, 6-7 strong riders towing the rest around. This became just four doing the majority of work and then a few people popped off the front for a dig. 2 laps left and we (I) chased down the 2 escapees who were dangling 50 metres up the road for about a lap. Once caught we all did a sort of processional (is that even a word ?) final lap at what seemed a little pedestrian so I gave it beans up the incline on the back straight of the course, found myself about 15 metres clear but did not have enough to go properly clear as a rough decent was all that was left between us and the final left hander. Got abosrbed by the bunch and put myself on the inside for the last bend. Through the bend and the uphill finish was 300 metres or so away. I pulled over and out the way so the others could have there fun
. Cruised up to the line just as the chasers came through with a huge sprint finish. I think steve was about 3rd/4th from his group, judging by the panting of some of the members they were working quite hard for the catch.
I think there sprint was disrupted by a car that stopped smack bang in the middle of the road and despite the marshalls instructions got confused and did not seem to understand that they needed to move
.
All in all a great workout with no end of race sprint danger, I only want to win the Hone way
