Hounslow & District Wheelers 25

Early start and off over to the Bentley course, legs weren`t feeling the effect of the Presidents 10 yesterday. It was really cold when I got there, off at 8.50am, no sign of George. Only the two Agreeables on the start sheet. Good field of 80 riders. Unlike my last 25 got to the start with a slight warm up in plenty of time. Only encountering the weather celebraties of spit n spot and that was all, it stayed dry unlike yesterday. Then I was off, thinking last time I rode this course I was doing the 2up with  oops sorry that was the 4up  ! I paced myself in very much the same way catching the two riders who started immediately in front of me before the turn. Though they were both hogging the lane as I passed forcing me to go wide into the next lane of the duel carriage way, not amused, I think I voiced my disdain. Thankfully, not a lot of traffic around. Took the turn to find there was a tail wind! Great, hadn`t noticed a head wind up to the turn, Upthe Col du Chicken very smoothly, catching a couple more riders as I did. Made it to the turn, then I found the head wind! :(

Boy was it starting to hurt I could see time ebbing away from me  oh no I thought, got to do better than last time out at this distance. Got to the last turn, then it was eyes out pushing as hard as I could, through the line with a 1:00:28. An improvement of 1 min and 7 secsonds over my last outing. Getting closer to sub hour with two 25s to go. And nearly an 8 minute plus in the vet stakes :D

George was a DNS, infact there were nearly 10 DNSs! I left before all the results were in, well at least half were in when I left and I was the third fastest at the point, so I reckon with speed of the remaining riders I might get in the top 20 :D
