Waller Pain Hill Climb

I believe we only had 3 ACC entrants this year. Luckily one of them managed a podium spot.

Thanks to Scott and the Round Table team for this. It's a good fun event and in a town rather than out in the middle of nowhere. Maybe next year we can get a few more ACC out riding (and supporting).

Kingston Wheelers rider, John Storms, was the fastest man on Caterham Round Tables' 0.31 mile long, 210 ft climb of the Waller Lane hill in Caterham this year. Over 40 riders took to the hill on Sunday (10/06) to test themselves against this short but gruelling challenge.

Narrowly missing Matthew Pilkingtons' course record set last year (1:14), John posted a very impressive time of 1:17 to take the 'King of the Hill' title with an average speed of 14.494 mph.

Local man, Mark Pettifor was the fastest of the fun riders with a very creditable 2:37 while in the youth category, Oliver Cliff from the Velo Club recorded a superb 1:39.

In the ladies categories, Gem Atkinson (Rapha Condor) was the overall winner (1:59) while Jo Bas-Thornton regained her crown in the fun category with a much improved time of 2:44. Molly Cooke, also a previous winner, took the youth crown for the girls with a time of 4:15.

Everyone who stayed for the prize giving agreed what a superb event this had been, once again, and is looking forward to next year and challenging those course records all over again.
