Farnham RC 25

Postby Dominic » Sun Jul 08, 2012 10:20 am

Just me and Terry down for this. Had a quick chat before the start about, yes you guessed it, the weather. Terry went off to the start and I eventually went to warm up. Legs felt good, on the way to the car to ditch my top, believe it or not it had stopped raining, I punctured by rear tub. Didn't have a spare so that was the end of that. Hope it went well for you Terry!

Was fine when it happened, but on the drive home the angrier and angrier I got about it. I purposefully didn't ride on Tuesday because I was tired and wanted to do well on this one. Apart from the wet it felt fairly calm in Farnham. I am now wondering what the point of the whole competitive thing is

Hope the Bec went well for everyone!

Bad luck Dom. Crap year and I've basically written the season off as conditions always seem to be wet, windy or both. I'll carry on with the races where I don't get put off (like today's Bec) and just using the year to try and keep turning over some semblance of speed in the legs. Effectively training for next year and hoping things are better in 2013.

Dom

Puncture what a bummer.

I started off with light drizzle. Progressing into a deluge. Went past the start in about 38mins so wasn`t going too bad and then the second deluge. I made a mistake in wearing sunglasses, would you believe, and I couldn`t really see a thing-just about a mile or so from the start (15miles for me) the dual carriage revert to single lane and a car came very close-which peed me off somewhat and I lost concentration and just sat up, end of race. A couple of mins later I realised I`d made a mistake but it was too late by then. Turned right at the Hen and Chicken and drove home.Pretty miserable evening in the Hill household I`m afraid but wish me luck for next Sat on the same venue.

Fingers crossed for a float day on St Swithin's Day this Sunday, then we'll get forty of 'em all through July & August.
