Back to the 53 course this morning after a season long absence due to roadworks, and another roundabout added.
Lots of shovelling and wheelbarrowing yesterday so not expecting much. Chilly this morning so an armwarmer day, autumn is on its way.
I really couldn't get going and it was very frustrating. After 5 miles my average speed was ridiculous, after Tollgate at 9 miles I finally got in to it. This seems to be a trait with me when my fitness is down, regardless of warm up, in that it takes ages to get going. Once there all seems fine but the first bit is a frustratingly slow affair. 22.5mph early on and 27.5mph later for the same sort of effort, nuts.
Anyway caught 3 people, and caught by one, the flying Steve Kane.
4 of us out this morning, better to see.
Matt Day 1:05:55
Rob Royle-Evatt 1:02:11
Me 1:02:46
Paul Tunnel 1:01:27
I went well in the second half, just wish I could get out the blocks faster at the moment as the speed is good after that. All good race miles ahead of next season after this year's sporadic affair.
Steve Kane was leading when I left on 53:02 but Pete Tadros still had to finish. I'd expect Nick Dwyer and Lee Turner to be up there too, but Pete from Steve for the win would be my prediction.
