Battle of Kenardington 14 June

Marek, Dave Kennet and Myself competed in this SERRL Road Race today .

I really enjoyed the course with its little climbs, corners, descents and reasonable road surface making it a gruelling race resulting in the peloton getting smaller and smaller each lap.

There were plenty of attacks every lap and we were always in the mix but there always somebody willing to pull it back. Dave got in a break which stayed away for quite a while which I thought was going to the finish but one of the other riders team mates chased it down! Marek also closed down a break for us near the end of the race.

With about a lap to go, I went up the road on my own and established a small gap. I was shortly joined by 3 others each from the larger teams which is always a good sign. We stayed away to the finish. One guy jumped us and we tried to pull him back but couldn’t. I managed to get a gap on the other 2 but they caught me. I didn’t realise we were near the finish and pulled the other 2 to the bottom of the short climb and they sprinted past me so I got a disappointing 4th - Schoolboy error
