On Sunday I competed in the IOM E2E its a great event starting on the beach on the North of the Island, over the mountains to the South of the island. Its 75K with over 1500 M of climbing. The route is great, something for everyone, starts on the road, moving onto some technical climbs, river crossing, bit of North Shore, some great flowing Singletrack sections, some natural, others man made, off camber descents and into the town of Port Erin via the concrete coastal walkway, which is twisty turny footpath, down a step set of steps and onto the promenade.
It was a great event, well marshalled, and really well supported by the locals who gave plenty of encouragement. The weather although forecast to be wet and windy, was kind and although we started riding into a strong headwind for the first 13 miles, with some rain, it soon dropped and turned into a nice day.
I came 3rd in my category and was pleased to finish in the sunshine.
I noticed that they have a team of 3 category, so if anyone else fancies it, I will return again next year. You still ride as an individual but the times are collated. so let me know if anyone wants any further info.
