First outing of the TT bike for the season, this took place of the GS/335 course which is two laps of the course we use for the inter-club TTs. Its a hilly course with pitches over 10% in places along with some fast and twisty descents...with gravel and potholes everywhere for good measure.
Robert Royle-Evatt was there helping out and gave me some encouriging words about my new TT helmet, "are you sure it's on properly, it looks like its sitting very high on your head".
Set off at 9:31 and powered along to the the turn off the main road, took the descents fairly cautiously as I was on new wheels/tyres so had no idea on the stopping/stability of them. Managed to catch a few people ahead of me, started on the second lap feeling a bit too cooked but carried on round picking off the early starters. With about 500m to the finnish my saddle slipped so had to finnish the race standing up, but as it was about 4% all the way to the line I wasn't too bothered.
Nice start to the season with a 59:04, looked like there were some 52s and below when I left so I expect to be about mid table, mainly due to not pushing hard enough on the descents.
