ECCA 12hr

Postby richv » Mon Aug 22, 2005 7:30 am

Congratulations to Rob Royle Evatt who did a (provisional) 236.4miles in the ECCA 12 hour yesterday.

Having ridden a good 100 a few weeks ago I entered thinking 12 hours can't be that hard. Everything was ok up to about 6 hours (albeit that RRE had overtaken me but then again he was obviously going too quick too early and I'd soon pull him back - or at least that was what I kept telling myself). At about 6 hours everything started to fall apart. I couldn't get onto my tri-bars due to low back pain so changed onto my road bike. I don't think I can remember the soles of my feet ever being so sore. I am not quite sure how I managed to finish the last six hours. it was far harder than I had ever imagined. Finally grovelled home with a (provisional) 232.4miles.

I'm SO impressed. Well done to both of you.

I always thought 12hrs was a special kind of stupid and one that held no attraction for me. But yesterday I finally got my feeding and drinking right on the BikeWales ride and was actually thinking of entering a 12 next year. Thankfully your post has brought me back to reality.

Well done to both of you. That makes the club BAR position interesting, with Rich having a better 100 and Rob with a better 12. Could be all down to doing a good 50 in the next few weeks.

Mixed Emotions!!! Do I laugh or do I cry, my 12 distance just got better. Final result of 239.874, just 0.126miles short of the magic 240! Richards final distance was 233.174. If only we had a third man, who knows team prize next year!!!!!
