Tim's Win: 18th March SERRL

Addiscombe racers don't win many road races; so when we do that person deserves a new thread in my opinion. Once again well done Tim!

very happy liquigas!!

woke up on Saturday with my second cold in a month.. half a lemsip before i left the house and a bag of cashew nuts on the way to Eastway.. obviously great racing fuel as i felt ok when i got there.

very windy on the way there so i was thinking that any breakaways would be pulled in.. note to self don't do lots of work near the front. a text from DS Toks advised to make up places on the downhill's not the uphill's - fantastic piece of advice as i felt no pain for the first 15 laps..

a couple of riders tried breaks but had no chance in the wind! after the second prime i was advised by my old uni mate Jack Chisholm to watch the guy from Finchley CC as he make his way up to the front very quickly and quietly..

2 laps to go - got to the hairpin and tried to put the power down too early - pedal hit the floor and my back wheel jumped about 1ft in the air - very nearly came off the bike - with adrenalin running i got my head down for the last lap.. Jack lead me out for the first 1/2 lap then i went past down the long straight making sure that i was 5 from the front.

on the sweeping left i had to go across the grass briefly and 2 riders had already gone - DAM!! they had 4 bike lengths but i just put the power down and went hard as i could for 300m - went past one from economic energy - the managed to keep on it - past Finchley CC - then head down - Finchley started to come back but i got it on the line by about half a wheel.

great race and looking forward to the 3rd cats - thanks for the advice to Toks and jack!!

Ha ha i just realised you were wearing Eddie Mercxx's old number. Next sat's gonna be 2/3 race. It'll be my first official race of the season, hopefully Huw will be there too... I didn't realise Jack was racing, how much are you paying your domestiques these days? I can't wait till saturday, bring it on!

Well done Tim!

Blimey road racing seem to involve a bit more thinking than I was expecting!

Full marks for race result.

Not sure about sartorial elegance though....blue armwarmers with yellow ACC kit....?

Well done, Tim !

On the picture it's not clear if the spectators are watching the race or admiring your colour co-ordination.
