Aodan is flying. Today we rode the final round, at an extremely muddy Dears Leap Park, and I never saw again him after the start. Can't say I enjoyed any of it ... being lapped twice within 50 minutes doesn't do great for the morale ... Maria (and a lot of people) snapped her rear mech-hanger in all that mud and finished the race on a bike some stranger handed to her.

This could have gone to almost everyonewho made it to the flag;- Matt Holmes for his fight backs, or one of many Evans MTBers who bunny hopped the hurdles with seeming ease. (As did Hambling, Crawforth and Curtis) And the many who were able to continue after bending a hanger arm (A common problem in the mud), but we award the USE Star of the day prize to Maria David (Pearson Cycles) who when she bent her gears ran on, not really thinking what she was to do next other than follow her desire to finish. Out of the blue another rider gave her a bike and she was able to ride to the flag.

Afterward she came up to us and said that she didn't know who's bike she had, but whomever it was deserved the USE engraved seat post. Well, we think she is the worthy winner for her commitment to a seeming lost cause, which won her the support of a fellow competitor.
