Arrived at hq undecided whether to ride or not. The wind was horrendous and the rain was threathening. Got myself ready and decided to start and use the race for training purposes anyway.

The headwind on the outward leg was absolutely awful and couldn`t manage evens-but at the turn things picked up for the next 10 miles or so. Overtook a couple of stragglers and was averaging 30mph with the gale behind.

Then to the turn, was really fighting the wind and had a job keeping the bike in a straight line.

After 16 miles, would you believe it, had an attack of cramp but managed to relieve it by standing on the pedals. Only a couple of more miles and would be at the r/a and then the wind behind. was really struggling by now.

At a slip road a car coming onto the dc seem to come so so close and I couldn`t handle any more. I just sat up and gave in.

So a dnf for me.

Anyway will be back next week. Hopefully with more luck.
