That is mighty impressive of George and Paul given that all their bikes had of a TT bike is the bars. 24.6mph. Give them aero wheels helmet etc and a bit of experience, and Rich and Jon can start shivering in their shoes!

It was a good fun event last night.

Paul and I drove the course before in the car and for some reason it seemed like 20 mins even driving it

Once we got going the time went pretty quickly. The drag out to the first roundabout is quite long and I had to keep changing down in gears to keep the cadence up.

It was great when I got to the roundabouts as there were no cars and I could almost straight line the apex's.

I passed a few riders and kept seeing Paul ahead of me, it was hard work trying to reel him in, the halfway roundabout was handy for checking positions with Paul infront and John H behind.

Ian gave me a good draft for a mile or so then he shouted encouragement as I passed him.

the return leg was slightly downhill and the wind behind wasn't really helping as much as it was us hindering on the way out.

I tried to keep a fast cadence with a good rhythm unlike my normal style of slamming it in the top gear and feeling the burn.

At the finish I thought I'm not that knackered so should have pushed much harder, but the experienced guys's say that's a common endorphin-al misconception apres ride.

I wouldn't mind trying some more longer distances in the future hopefully be able to keep up this pace.

Yep, good rides from George & Paul, but not unexpected given their road racing prowess, which is why they got a smaller handicap than the other novices last night.

Also well done to Sam, who at just turned 13 got pretty close to the half hour and beat his dad too.

Yep good rides all round. Had a little chuckle with Ian when we saw that he had Paul H 1 min behind and George 2.

Well done to the new guys last night, particularly Sam. The course is a lot easier 2nd time out as you know where the rises are and where and when you can push that bit harder.

George - the idea of a tt is NOT to draft. You should be able to come past a rider who you've caught for two minutes. If you really can't then make sure you ride sufficiently behind or to the side of them that you can't be accused of drafting....you could get disqualified.

Weeeellllll, Jon "Kenwood" Hemmings certainly wanted to see me suffer last night.
Paul@ 1 min behind, then George@ 2 mins after .

I knew i was in trouble even before the off, Andrew was having trouble just holding me up!

Straight out into a headwind- my fave.
You always think you will catch the rider in front as it seems they have hardly moved- its just that they are going up a long drag and you're next.
I managed to keep ahead of Paul for about 10 mins, but i was passed about a mile away from the turn.
Seemed to take ages to get there (it did) and the headwind was taking no prisoners- but it was the same for all riders tho.
Into the turn and yaaaa a tailwind, I saw George thundering up the other way and I braced myself .
I dont think he got much of a tow- he would have to slowed down too much, I gave him a shout of encouragement and he sped past.
After that it was pretty much all downhill- my riding- not the course, Kenwood and Rich V came past in a procession of carbon and flash sounding wheels.
I could'nt wait to finish, just so the time keeper could get home.

Thanks to all for organising a slightly enjoyable evening.

I was a bit worried that George was going to overtake me so I am pleased I was only beat by 30secs. Dont think I can improve by 82 secs to beat Richard though.

Hey thanks to all who organised and helped at the TT

First TT i've done for more that 3 years and now I remember why I enjoyed them so much !! As for the tail wind .... where was it? it always feels like a head wind to me.

Well done to all who took part - just don't know how you manage such a pace.
