Well well well, cast your minds back to a passing comment by george in another thread...

Well lets just say us prima donna sprinters may not be able to climb as good, but we sure as hell can time trial...

Evening ten this evening, didn't feel particularly confident about it at the start as i have had three relatively hard days on the bike with the shoulder and all. So my only plan was to avoid being caught, and just see what i could do. In a PM Jon reckoned a 26 was a good time for me to aim at, so aim i did.

Started off relatively calmly, tried to get into a good rythm. The first couple of minutes were agony. But after that i settled into it and i felt ok. So i just put my head down and kept pushing...

By the half way mark i had caught my two minute man (my minute man Carl was a DNS) then i as i rounded the round-about i passed Simon O, my three minute man. I had seen sean on the other side of the roundabout shortly before i turned, but he was well out of sight and i didn't see him again until the finish.

So head down once more, just concentrating on keeping the legs turning at a metronomic average cadence of 109. Yes, thats exactly the figure i wanted! The last couple of miles seemed to fly by and i crossed the line on what i thought was 24.14, but was confirmed to be 24.22. Anyhow, my thoughts turned to the previous ACC Road Race A teams attempt to unsettle the TT'ers. Wait a minute, didnt George 'only' do 24.24.

Oh yes he bloody did! So two seconds my friend, two seconds. You can have your Box Hill challenge, ill have the Road Racers 10 best time thanks!

So as you probably gather im rather pleased with that time, especially given my shoulder is still a source of pain every now and then. And the knee isn't properly healed, which i could feel throbbing as it continued to soak another dressing.

Not bad for a 'prima donna sprinter' huh George. Oh and didn't you use tri bars!? I didnt!

C'mon!

Meanwhile the other newer Jon (Camden) nearly held off his marauding son, but still won the handicap, with his son Sam second, and myself 3rd.

I know Dave Kennett won with a time of 21.57 (which doesn't really count as he's a Paragonian :wink:

), not sure who was 2-5th but i was in at 6th beaten by Jon, and Rich V no doubt. But give me a 'proper' TT bike, and half you guy's experience and ill be snapping at your heels

Well, i can't think of anything else to say now, gloating over. At least till i catch up with you george! Was a great evening, all credit to Jon, Joyce, Tim and Ian, the steadiest pusher off'er ive had. (your only the third mind but i couldn't have felt more at ease while you were holding me up!) Thanks for your support guys.
