Ok so a USCF 4th Cat race in New York City. (equates roughly to a UK 3rd Cat).

Prospect Park is a cross between Goodwood and Hillingdon and I loved it.
Racing starts at 6:30 am in an effort to get out before the joggers and finish before the cars get their 2 hours use of the roads between 9 and 11am

Big fields in these races due to big city, many cyclists and few races, there's no Surrey League here. 80 in the 4th Cat event and maybe 220ish all together on the morning of the 16th August.

Anyway, I didnt win. But every racer there knew there was a strange Brit in their midst and I made them work. Rode in the front 5 for most of the race, chased attacks, let a few go, made them work on the last time up the hill and laughed at 40mph on the descents. Basically had a great ride and loved their race style which does involve a lot of teamwork (as I found out!) but far too much 'mouth'. Thats Brooklyn for you. I basically got a bit lost in the run in to the finish line as I didnt see it coming quickly enough being a stranger and sat up to finish in 20th or so.

So they saw the brightest yellow jersey in the field and spent a long time staring trying to work out where Addiscombe is. lol
