Sotonia 10.

Postby John the old'un » Sun Jun 01, 2008 9:02 am

Terry Hill and I went down to Andover for PB attack on the P613. Not a fast day as the wind was playing tricks all afternoon.
Terry finished with a several second improvement on his line one time despite going off course at the turn and having to stop and do a U turn. :( A good ride by him.
My day was like the curates egg. Good in parts.
Was going really well. Got to the turn and started the return leg. with around 4 miles to go I got passed really close by a car and moved closer to the side of the road. Then there was the sound of a guy leaning on his horn in a white van which passed me and pulled across putting me onto the gravel and then the grass. I came to a stop on the grass, thankfully without falling off.
After cursing at his van which continued on its merry way, I got back on, but now with focus gone, and still shaking, I put it in the small ring and sitting up, twiddled on to the finish.
I freewheeled over the line and yelled No 18, DNF. Looked at my stopwatch and it said 26.30.
No 19 didn't pass me even then, and he finished on a 27, so reckon I was on a PB.
Never mind. We live to race another day.
back there in two weeks time.

Well done Terry.

John - that sounds pretty rough - hope you're not too shook up :( . I'd say a 26.30 after that is pretty good. Onwards and upwards mate

Well done Terry despite you detour!

Thanks for your encouragement lads. I did feel sorry for John as its a long way to go to have your afternoon spoilt by a selfish arsehole.

Started off fairly fast and I thought I must be on a ride but unfortunately got too excited and went off course at the turn where it looked like the marshal was sending me the wrong way, soon put things to right and decided to dig in and really tried.

Was pretty pleased with 24.36 as this is a 15sec improvement, but oh what could have been if I had been concentrating a little be more.

Well done Tel, and back luck John. Although it sounds as though the form is there for some more cracking times this season.

Shocking actions from the drivers and hope you weren't too shaken. You just can't credit the lack of intelligence in some people.

John

I have looked back over the google earth images to find out who was driving the white van.

I traced him to small place called Universal Studios. Shall we just say that he WON'T be doing that to you ever again.
