Drove up to Hillingdon today in the team bus with Maria and Aoden, it was a lovely sunny day and the conditions were just perfect the temperature was just right.
A nice course laid around the road race circuit with a rather bumpy rutted section through the middle which sapped the energy every lap.
Today I started off a bit further up the field than last week and got to the first corner in the top 20 or so riders.
Made up quite a few places on the first few laps and still had the leaders a coupke of hundred yards in sight which was nice.
I really enjoyed this coirse as it seemed to suit me much better than the stop and starting of the tight Herne hill course.
I had a few carrots ahead of me and was reeling them in one by one and moving up the field into the top 10.
'Maria I just lapped a girl named Maria" I sung as I passed by our favorite Pearsons/Dynamo rider
Felt very comfortable and just held steady pace all race long and was wooping and smiling to the camera and marshals as I passed.
At one stage I got some tapecaught in my rear cassette, which fortunately cleared after a lap of slipping gears.
Didn't manage to see Aoden riding but he had a decent race with no problems, he was dueling with a few riders all race and found that some of the track racers couldn't go round corners too fast but were hard to keep at bay on the straight sections, Aoden easily finish well inside the top 20.
Well done to Maria for a race long battle for the ladies win where she was just pipped to the post, there really wasn't much in it and only a hundred meters or so separated the 2.
Towards the end of the race I was on my own, the leaders had just pulled out of sight from me and so I comfortably help my position to take my first top 10 cyclocross finish
