Very cold day on Saturday and a very fast dry course laid out by the Gemini cc at Footscray common, very long course with lots of mole hills which really bumped up the fast grassy sections which tended to ride like pav'e so you had to crunch a big gear rather than spin it out.

Bang and off down the start straight I got jabbed in the leg aw I was accelerating by another riders handlebars which gave me a dead leg mmmm nice  Aoden and Maria were riding but they had to shoot straight off afterwards to get to Geoffrey Butlers so didn't get much of a chance to chat after the race.

Billy Whenman had a flyer and seemed to be riding away fairry easily, Chris Ansel was in hot pursuit of him but myself I didn't have much power in the legs today, I couldn't hold the wheels and was struggling to hold my place.

In a group for half the race with Stuart Jones, Kevin Knox and Nigel Ling, usually I should have powered away from this lot but not today as I was grimacing with trying to turn over the cranks.

I made a small mistake of raising my saddle height by 2 cm the day before with a hasty garage tech session, in turn this wasn't a wise decision and I payed for my error.

Kevin attacked me with 2 laps to go and I had nothing to counter with so I had to settle for an average 7th place :x , Next week were back to Herne hill for the 14th round and on New Years day have a madisson 2 up fun CX race to look forward 2.

As George said a seriously cold day. The course was flat and fast, mostly well groomed parkland with one fun section through some woods. Thankfully the cold weather meant the ground stayed dry, I found the mole hills were tough no matter how I tried to ride them. I had a relaxed start from the back of the grid, then kept plugging away pulling back a few places every lap. After about 45 min I had got back to trackie Bryan Taylor then at 50 min Perforamance Plan junior Corinne Hall (sad, I know) and then on the last lap old sparring partner Douglas Fox. It was the first time to catch him up this year so either I'm getting faster or he had too much Christmas pudding. Finshed in 20th which is my best result so far this year. (They've missed my name from the demi-results but hopefully it'll be there in the official verison.)

Sorry we had to rush away, Maria needed to give her old cx bike to GB before closing so they could switch everthing to a new frame for next week.
