Another windy day on the E2 course. Surely it must be calm there sometimes? Anyway, it was warm and dry, so 2 out of 3 aint bad.
Headwind for the first four miles to the first turn at Four Went Ways, then flying with a tailwind all the way up to Red Lodge. I was in 54x11 and 12 for big chunks of this leg, doing 30mph+. Then onto a little dog-leg out and back on a single carriageway, which included having to dodge past pissed revellers at some sort of music festival which was going on at Red Lodge village. Back onto the main road for a slog back to FWW into the headwind, watching the average speed dropping from over 26 to less than 24. Turn again, and try to make the most of the tailwind for the final 5 miles to the finish at Six Mile Bottom. Finished in 2:05:00, spot on 24mph. PVT was a little slower, 2:06:45 I think.
