Hillingdon

Postby Rob W » Wed Jun 24, 2009 2:05 pm

Raced at Hillingdon last night. The race went much the same as every week. After a few laps i did my usual and thought i would get the legs going with an attack and see if any one would go with me.i got away for about 2 laps, saw that no one wanted to give it a go so i sat up as they started to close in on me.A few very twitchy and dangerous riders going for gaps and glory that were not there.Any way it all came down to a bunch sprint.I know were i want to be on the right coming of the last 2 bends. But were was i ,caught on the inside but following from one wheel to the next trying to hold postion. Then in to the final straight still holding a good wheel on the inside.I started to kick and i noticed people going backwards to me.Yes the were fading. So yes all those sprint intervals in the garden nearly puking with effort were going to pay of.Then it happened. There is a slight bend in the final straight and the bunch moved across the track and bang me and 3 other riders are now riding cyclo cross on the grass at the side of the track.Very frustrating as i found out from BC that i had 9 points instead of 7.So only 1 to get.Well it might as well have been 101.At least my bike and myself live to ride another day.

Bad luck Rob. Maybe next time you shouldn't sit up and let the bunch catch you, just carry on and win solo

Rob disappointed for you mate. It's so frustrating up there at times when you get boxed in on the inside.
I fancied it but had to work late last night.

Should be ok for next week though.

Matt how did you get on ?

Yes i know that its there, but when there is 30 odd crazy 4 cats all trying to be near the front there isnt much room to get out from the inside. If only it was as wide as Dunsfold.
