Bec 10 18/7

Down to the Holmwood course this afternoon for Keith C's 10 promotion with a couple of other Addiscombe racing and another making tea and very nice cakes, mmmmm cake. Thanks Tamar.

If you've been out you know it's windy, and the course didn't turn out to be in a meteorological bubble so it was a windy out leg. I seemed to be going pretty well though and it wasn't slowing me down as much as it used to. The return leg was quite nice with a bit of wind assistance up the kick ups, and a nice shout from my Dad (ridden down for his miles today) and Joyce (good to see spinning about on her bike again) in the last half mile. I pulled my best "I'm trying hard" gurn for them :D .

I finished with 24.11, just pipped by Robert on 24.05, and Richard had a bad day at the office (26.46) but then I think he's only been on his bike about half a dozen times in the last 18mths. Shaun Kennedy won for the Bec with 21.30, Keith had a puncture just after the turn so a tub change sort of put a crimp in his time. Can I claim to have beaten him in a 10 now though  .

Thought I might bump in to Snoop at the HQ as it was being shared with a Pirate Party :D . You'd have been proud to see so many little people dressed in breeches, eye patches, hats etc.

As a little footnote it was great to see how well an event can be run in a slick manner with limited numbers. The Bec are only a small club (in terms of numbers) but Keith sets himself off first and then gets back to do the results, and a couple of other riders go off early and then switched marshaling roles with others after their ride to let the others go and start their warm up before their rides. Top work.
