[quote="NickH"]I have been (trying to) up my levels of training recently. As a result I have found that my legs have been feeling a bit sore and taking some time to recover. I am wondering if I ought to be supplementing my diet, possibly with more protein. A quick review shows that there are lots of supplements about but quite a lot are heavy in sugar, which I would prefer to avoid. Does anyone have a recommendation of something that I could use to aid recovery but is not full of sugar? Thanks, Nick
I can't give you any nutrition advice but there will be some residual soreness if you up the training load (especially quite significantly). Just make sure you rest up when needed and refuel with carbs and drink after each ride and obviously during rides of 1.5hrs plus. There are a few recovery drinks available too. I used to make myself a chocolate or banana milk shake immediately after my long rides before settling down to a good meal later. I read somewhere years ago that we don't quite need as much protein as we think we do so don't load yourself up with too many cans of tuna after your rides. I'm sure other peeps will chip in - I hope the extra training brings the results you want
