Confessions of a power-training novice

I know all this training business makes us sound a bit serious but, well, some people really are into this bike lark so feel free to talk about all training & self improvement related topics in here

Wow, excellent results there! You'll have your 300 in no time!
Right... that's it, I must get organised and sort out my pitiful power numbers...

Thanks for the vote of confidence - I rather suspect that the required next 26w is going to be harder to find than the initial 26w but here's hoping

Brilliant news Huw, except of course for the bu**ered lungs.

Almost makes you want to go out and buy a powertap!

Almost...

Nice work Huw, more tempo stuff, some spirited group rides and more hours in general with surely bump that FT up a bit further. Or then again there's always VO2max intervals

Believe me - in order to get that far I've been doing a few "pull" sessions already

Well done Huw...

Next time your training bear this in mind "Trasining makes you worse, Recovery makes better"

Cool, good on you. As a 3rd cat I can get by with 2 x20 efforts as my maximum intensity in training. All the Vo2max and anaerobic stuff will develop through racing hopefully. If however I make 2nd cat again or do a stage race I might try a few of the short hard intervals. Truth be told though I hate'em with a passion

Huw, and if your checking whether I read it, I don't wheeze when I blow my horn.

Sounds like you have been overtraining again  , will you ever learn, hope you don't intend to try and get paid for coaching advice. With your history we'll have a bunch of skint wannabe racers laid up in bed with the flu.

Hey, and do we really need to know that you have been 'pulling' yourself, this is a cycling website isn't it :?:

Cheers

YOU LEAVE YOUR HORN OUT OF THIS!

Believe me - with the limited amount of riding time I've been getting, overtraining is not an option. Under-recovering however is right up my street :D
As far as coaching goes - if you don't know where 'the edge' is, you don;t know how hard you can go before you get there! - All valuable experiences which I can pass on to others (at exorbitant fees of course 8))
