Chaingang and Chaingang Lite, Wed 30th April

I know all this training business makes us sound a bit serious but, well, some people really are into this bike lark so feel free to talk about all training & self improvement related topics in here

Chaingang and Chaingang Lite, Wed 30th April

Postby Michelle » Tue Apr 29, 2008 9:06 pm

Weather looks ok in the evening, though raining earlier in the day.

See you all 7pm at Horne Golf Club?

Think me and Keith will come direct from Oxted to the circuit, so don't wait for us at Bletchingly unless you hear otherwise.

P.S. Redhill CC website says their 1st Time-Trial isn't untill the following Wednesday, 7th May. (They use the same Horne circuit.)

If the weather is ok and I can get back from work in time, I'll be there.

I'll go straight to Horne Golf Club.

Weather looks pretty sh*te.

Email from East Grinstead bloke who was brave enough to go to Horne last night, said their 10 was cancelled, he rode half the way round then gave up as the roads were pretty flooded.

Looks like 2 x 20 on the turbo for me tonight

Enjoy.

Turbo for me as well tonight, I'm afraid.

Weather looks grey and its raining again down at Horley.

I suspect Michelle's report is accurate. There's a sunken bridge and stream coming into Newchapel and that floods quite often. The road past Horne Golf Club (Croydon Barn Lane) usually holds a lot of surface water as well.

So.........I suppose I've wimped out

I'm still up for future weeks, whether at Horne or Newdigate.

What can I do? When I come home from work and Keith is getting the bike ready, I can't refuse eh!

So no turbo for me thank Christ. Quick sprint for Keith and me up to Blethcingly and pick up the rest of the crew - Dominic, Stu and Paul Hone.

Keith and I were chaingang lite - he is doing the Kitsmead handicap tomorrow so didn't want to bust a gut. We did about two laps with fairly smooth handovers and about 20 seconds on the front each. He only shouted at me once, and I only shouted back at him once :D Then full fat came on through, and as per instruction, I managed to speed up and hang on the back (on the left of the line). AND I managed to hang on for a lap and a half. Granted they weren't going as fast as last week (48kph) and were only doing 42, but still!!!!!!

I think Stu is recovering from his food bug, and of course we had to take it easy on the corners.

Didn't really get rained on and made it home to hot chocolate milk and cashew nuts.

THIS IS FUN guys. Come on down! 8)

Michelle- we must have just missed you. Chris , Lisa and myself were there as well. We set off before the chaingang FF ( full fat)- if you can call paul, stu and dom fat :!:

We had done two laps before they even got there- as we came up for lap 3 they were just getting their asses into gear, we got another 2 laps in without ever seeing another soul- so there must have been 3 groups going around. 8)
It never rained on us once, but i am sure we had just missed a huge shower as there was a lot of water on some of the roads leading to the "course".
The roads around the circuit were not bad at all so perhaps you should have chanced it Del. We had more water off the wheel in front than fell on us.

All in we had a nice blast around for an hour and a half- plus Jo had cooked a nice spag bol for all of us. Result!
