Pilates

I know all this training business makes us sound a bit serious but, well, some people really are into this bike lark so feel free to talk about all training & self improvement related topics in here

Hmmmm - whilst Coulsdon is a mere stone's throw for me that would make for a piggin long drive to Sydenham and back. Sydenham is past Addiscombe and so not too much extra driving. That said - as a starter I remain willing to be driver but if Coulsdon were to become a long term option we'd need to think again. Just setting expectations out nice n early.

It isn't just mats - he uses blocks and balls and not everybody will have a mat anyway. I feel that Coulsdon is a bit on the edge and somewhere more near central Croydon would be better but it would probably be OK for a one off session. Thanks for assistance and ideas - keep em coming

Alan

I don't know if this is any help but I have spoken to the manager at Energie Fitness Club on Cherry Orchard Road by East Croydon railway station. He has a free studio slot 8.30 PM Thursday or theres an existing 1 hour Pilates Class Wed night at 7.15. Classes would be £5 per person, and he says he can supply a teacher. On the one hand its a more central location, and matts would be provided although we would need to ensure the teacher was up to the challenge !

I would certainly be up for this and could on occasion help with ferrying stuff from Sydenham provided that the venue is somewhere relatively close to Croydon (or between Croydon and Sydenham would be even better for me!).

OK, I think this is the plan - I have talked to Adam - he is prepared to do something at 8.30 on a Wednesday. I would like to fix a date and access to the club space for the first hour or so - who should I ask?

Once I have a date we can publicize it for everybody. 15 is the maximum and I will give existing contributors t this thread first option.

Cheers

I'd be up for this.

I do however have two questions:
1) Do we need bring any kit? Mat ? etc.
2) I'm likely to come over straight from work (Hammersmith). Is there somewhere I can store my bike inside ?

Adam has mats but he also uses blocks, balls and stretchy rubber - I have yet to organise transport of these but it shouldn't be a problem for a one-off and I think if we're serious for continuing this class the club could maybe buy a supply of equipment and store it at a venue for regular use. The club venue has room for your bike.

Alan - good work!! Joyce would be a good person to ask about the club room. As luck would have it I'm marshalling the SCCU sporting this Sunday with her. I'll have a word and get back to you OK? I remain v willing to help out transport wise on this

OK Snoop - I'll wait to hear. Cheers

Could you also get a reading on the possibility of some modest investment in equipment and a weekly rather than fortnightly let.

cheers

I've had a phone message from Joyce.

The clubroom/hall is booked for the Pilates class on 30th April 2008.

Hi All

Pilates one-off trial session, Wednesday, 30 April, 8.30 pm club hall.

This is now arranged so you need to express a firm commitment for this session. If it proves successful we'll try and arannge something on a regular basis.

There are 15 places and I will take the first 15, giving preference until Monday to those already on this thread or those who have sent me a PM expressing intentions.

It will be around £6 and Adam will tailor it to cyclists and bring mats for your use.

At the moment the list is
