Training Routes out of North/East Croydon

I know all this training business makes us sound a bit serious but, well, some people really are into this bike lark so feel free to talk about all training & self improvement related topics in here

Did part of the Tatsfield loop today. It is lovely round there. I planned a long run around that area once but got nowhere as the pavements ran out! I pootled a bit today as I was really too muggy with a horrid cold to do much but had the chance to get out and didn't want to sit at home all day. I am going to do a long ride incorporating the full loop and some of Orv's route over the weekend :D

Nearly all my non club run riding is around there. Once you get out past Selsdon/Addington Village/Coney Hall (depending which way you get there) you can ride for hours on end on really nice country lanes, just keep heading out in the direction of Westerham and beyond to Penshurst and you'll never be off a B road at most. There's also loads of hills if that's what you're after.

If you are returning from a longer ride and want a cafe stop then on Approach Road (between Titsey and Tatsfield) is a Reptile Zoo. There is a cafe there that is very used to cyclists and is often frequented by CTC riders so they don't mind you leaning your bike up outside while you sit in there a sweaty mess in lycra devouring a bacon sarnie.

Thanks Andrew :D I was wondering about cafes. I bought the Explorer Map for the area this afternoon. I think that will be where most of my non-club cycling takes place too. It is great - one minute on the main road through West Wickham, then a couple of quieter, residential roads and, all of a sudden, country lanes and silence :D
