Racing tips etc

I know all this training business makes us sound a bit serious but, well, some people really are into this bike lark so feel free to talk about all training & self improvement related topics in here

Born July 1976, so the grand old age of 32 (6 years my junior) obviously way past it (no hope for me then, and there I was going to propose to my family that I give up my job and concentrate on cycling whilst my wife supports us! kinda like the guy in desperate housewives, you know, the self centred pizza restaurant owner)

How does this tie in with: Racing is 80% mental, 20% physical.

It ties in Kieran because if and when I'm in a break with him, and I'm sh!tting myself because he's such a well known and prolific rider, I'll think to myself, 'he's past it, I can beat him'. See what I mean?

And no, I have no idea how desperate housewives is relevant to this thread!!!

I see now, belief in yourself, positive thinking etc

desperate housewives is only looked at by people at a similar stage in life, you've a few years to go yet.

Which, on a separate note, for those lazy posters, reminds me; it's you're not your when meaning "you are".

Im not impressed with people taking advantages of situations. I saw this in a SERRL race when a horse started to beat up a mercedes. It didnt affect me as I punctured a few minutes later.

When I was in a break once, apparently some horses held up the bunch behind but we were not aware. It was probably George doing his sidewinding out of the saddle thing shouting yeeha when we went past.

In 3rd cat races I notice a lot of riders join a break but are spent straight away and you are soon drawn back so it is very hit and miss. 2nd Cat races seem more commited.

Here's a great one for you George. I'd love to be able to do it but I'd have to be racing against typical 4th cats I think.

1. Sit in the bunch and bide your time
2. Watch all types ride off the front until a break is finally established
3. Get time checks from a mate sat on the road side watching
4. Have a good idea how many laps it would take you to bring back a break
5. Once the break has 90 secs Jump away.
6. Once you've pulled the break back X amonut of laps later - blast by the poor knackered souls :lol:
7. Win race by 20 secs 8)
