I know all this training business makes us sound a bit serious but, well, some people really are into this bike lark so feel free to talk about all training & self improvement related topics in here

I only managed to stay on for 500m but rode down to salfords and back.

The rest came past me on merstham drag on the way back and I got a free toe of some nice gent for into coulsdon.

Good fun but I hope to hang on till hooley next time!

Cheers

G

P.S George was powering up merstham drag and was still looking strong

i really enjoyed that. a near perfect hour and a half as planned from leaving coulsdon south, back to coulsdon south. i felt really good because of a 3 hour warm up i had this morning with adam and dave kennett

as we got to merstham on the way out it was just george, dave kennett and myself left. dave took us on a good route on some well lit roads. im not sure where exactly we went, but it was somewhere near gatwick.

the 3 of us were doing lots of strong turns on the front and the pace was very quick.

on the way back we kept it going strong, but i could feel i was running out of calories to burn, i dont think i ate enough for lunch, but then i was not expecting such a good fast chaingang!

dave must have had enough to eat as he was flying on the way back after the merstham drag towards coulsdon. i did a few turns, but they wernt that fast as i was running on my fat reserves. with a couple more miles to go dave suddenly upped the pace considerably taking me by suprise but i managed to get back to his wheel, but george had been left hanging about 25m back, but he got back on when we got to some lights.

nice bit of training, will be well up for some more of those. its better than going all the way up to elmers end!

George dropped on the chaingang.
Am I reading this right?
It must have been quick.

Last night was a pretty full on chaingang/training session.

I only met one chap outside butlers, his name was Paul and aparently he just happened to be waiting there outside ready to go on a training ride to Redhill and back and didn't even know the about the Addiscombe ride :?

Than cruising down to Coulsdon we came across Gavin and met up with, Brian, Stu and Dave K.

After just a bit is was clear that only the 3 of us were keep together so the others would keep riding and turn around when they'd had enough, and we picked them up on the way back.

We wern't really through and offing just taking turns on the front untill we slowed slightly then the others would come through.

On the way back just after the Merstham drag by Nethern, on the hill Dave and Stu powered away and my legs couldn't hold their pace so I dropped back.

Looks like mileage on the bike helps these 2 with the morning 3 hour blast as well.

Indeed a very good training session, but I would say the opposite Stu, Elmers End is easy for me to get to

I want to try and make some of these, but it'll depend on work etc. I'll either be at GBs or not, and don't take the mickey out of the rack and pannier.

That would be great Andrew obviously everyone can't make it every week but if we can build it up and get a weekly ride going that would be fantastic.

Gavin mate your zest for training is very impressive. Don't take this the wrong way but how much training have you been doing. Wednesday chaingang sounds pretty hard core I'm assuming you're full recovered now :D

I'll be doing it again next week, work permitted. I'll probably go onto the club night in addiscombe as well for a cup of tea. There's some talk going on.

Forgot about the talk Ben, thanks for the reminder. Joyce's cake may take a bit of a battering if I can make the chain gang. Either that or stop at Burger king on the way to the club room before I'm told not to :D .

Assuming you didn't simply have an off day that sounds like a bit of a waste of time :?
