Hi all,
I hope this thread is still an active one!
I did the London to Brighton Bike Ride on Sunday and saw an ACC jersey pass me. I am quite proud to say that I caught up and had a chat briefly before he thanked me for the chat and sped off again at warp speed... I got up Ditchling Beacon without a foot down though, which any Pilates teacher should be proud of doing....
The Pilates session I taught for you seems a little while ago now, so apologies for the loss of momentum on my side.
If I remember right, there was a question on the forum about how many Pilates sessions should be incorporated into your training. If it were an ideal world, I would suggest three times a week. Pragmatically, I recommend that people just get used to doing a single session per week and then start to bring elements from that single class, when you're confident of doing the exercises/stretches accurately, into part of your training routine.
I can't emphasize enough how important it is for you to have a strong core for the stresses of racing or even for those training rides where you'll be riding near your maximum. Being fairly new to cycling myself I also can't quite believe how stiff my body feels even after 30 miles of being in a fairly fixed position.... So I would really like to emphasize how important stretching is to your recovery and long term postural health. I'd be quite interested to hear how you guys think a good stretching routine might affect performance.... has anyone done it long enough to know?
Feel free to ask me any questions on here and I'll do my best to answer. I can also be emailed via my website.
I'll now get in touch with Doug to see if we can get ACC Pilates classes up and running.
Thank you to Alan for all the initial leg work in this....
Hope to see you soon.
Adam
