Eilliot is right. I just checked the two Raleighs in the garage and they both have herons on the headtube. Grahame has clearly been sold a forgery - a lot of heron you buy now has been cut with something.

My two Roberts were made in Croydon, again custom-built jobbies 8)

Takes a whole new meaning in French ... http://fr.wiktionary.org/wiki/robert

And a fine pair of Roberts they are too. Custom-built for speed or comfort? Or just for fun?

Thank you, Sylv. The English language is dangerous enough as it is...

Sylv, Dom, I would remind you about Marco's comment about making this forum a bit more female friendly...

So I have a fine pair of Roberts

Don't worry Amy, from now on I will refrain from posting anything that's even remotely un-Pc or that veers away from whatever the forum guidelines are said to be, i've changed my signature which made fun of a guy falling off his bike, actually i'm not sure i'll bother login in again too much

No offence, Sylv - a little bit shocked but not offended. I'll just never look at my Roberts in the same way again... or maybe I'll just forget all about such connotations in a few days and that'll be it

My, Ant, big word for you there :D At least I know I'm safe from you with my resident attack-cat on hand

Anyway, shall we move on and get back to the original subject of this thread?

Well, if we're talking "assembled", then "in my garage" is the answer  .

I have been pondering the origins of an old racing frame my late grandfather gave me when I was about 8. I took the frame to GB's in the late 80's to have it re-sprayed since the original paint-job had faded. I handed the frame over to Butlers and a few days later a guy phoned to say he would love to borrow it for a photo-shoot because he was writing a book about old racing bikes - I said ‘no’ (the 8 yr old within did not relish lending a complete stranger his frame). Of course now I wish I had said yes because the author might have been able to find out more and in hindsight I should have asked for a free copy of his book (if it got published). So, I don't know where my (Grandfathers) bike was made but I would like to. Wondered whether anyone might have any ideas on how I should go about finding out? I would like to restore it...
