[quote="Ivor"][quote="Elliot M"]what about chalkpit lane, i hate that

Really? I actually prefer chalkpit, I find Titsey a bit dull and monotonous whereas chalkpit's a bit more scenic and interesting to ride up.

It's the last hill on which I had to get off and walk!

[quote="jon avery"]54mph is shifting  and got me thinking what would be your chances of staying upright if you had a front blow out doing that sort of speed, has it happened to anyone?

Nil, but the same would apply on most fast descents. If you think about what could go wrong then you'd always be worrying. Look after your tyres and minimise the risk.
[quote="George"]All Andrew needs is for a getaway car to be pulling out of Pilgrims way

:D I do pull wide to the white line when approaching/passing White Lane and keep a very good eye out for anything when going down it, but the faster you go the less chance of them hitting you  .

Seem to have more of a problem descending these days.

Went down titsey the other day with a strong cross wind. Thought I was gonna go off the edge so slowed it right down to a comfortable 30mph.

[quote="Andrew G"]Titsey can still be fun to go down although as you say Dom a bit bumpy up top these days. My pb down there is 54mph but I tend not to pedal through the top for so long now due to the bumpiness, which if you do allows you to carry the extra few mph in to the sweeping S at the bottom. Normally a 45-48mph descent though, you need to have a clear run in to the S as that's where you always hit your max.

54mph  now that is impressive. 8)

Googlefight has Whitedown the winner by 20700 to 2430. But then Carlton Bank whups Whitedown with a score of 331000

George Best once said something like "Carlton Palmer can trap a ball further than I could kick one." For all I know he may have had views on Kate Moss as well.
