MTB Ride March 20th?

Folks I can't get out this weekend - too much other stuff to do. I'm dead keen for another go down holmbury way v soon, need to keep practicing. Yogurt pots, telegraph and whatever else folk can show me??

So - my diary looks good for Sat 20th March - how about it? I can't play all day but I could prob do a 9ish start at/near the Volunteer (or other suitable mtg place as suggested by anyone??) and head back home after lunch.

Hope to see a few folk on the trails

9am is a bit of a challenge, though. If trains run to time, I could get to Peaslake 1015-1030ish - any chance that the early starters could get a couple of quick trails in and then pass through the village to link up with me and any other stragglers?

Colin - I don't see why not mate. Good idea.

So we'll do an early loop de loop (like I know where I'm going??) starting from the volunteer pub (approaching abinger on A25 from Wotton turn left onto B2126 and the pub is set back from the road after about mile and a half).

We'll go for a play then head to peaslake for 10.30. Pick up Colin and everyone else - and away we go again. I will be stopping at lunchtime (might dive into the volunteer foe a quick beer n sarnie then off home. The volunteer is mtb frinedly and they have a bike wash hose out back

All the above assumes someone is with me who knows their way about - otherwise I'm going for a spin and try not to get too lost

Do you know if the pub management are comfortable with MTBers using the pub carpark ?

Alternatively, there is a public car park on the B2126 (further up the road towards Holmbury St. Mary)

Aodan - I used it the other day for the astounding adventures day, in fact we pretty much took over the place! As I (and anyone else who fancies) will be returning there for lunch I would hope so. I'll double check though just to be sure.

OK - I've checked with the pub and they are OK for us to use their carpark in the morning. I said I would swing by around 12 for a bite to eat and then that's me done away off home.

Aodan - can you get us to the Peaslake bus shelter? Sorry I don't know my way around too much, still pretty new to all this.

So - plan is - early meet at 9 - Volunteer pub. Riding trails etc and head to Peaslake for 10.30. More riding around then drop in on the Volunteer pub for lunch @ 12. I'll then be heading off but of course if folk want more riding then whoop de doo.

Great ride this morning, the weather turned out to be a bit damper than expected but it wasn't heavy and just made things a bit more interesting.

I joined Doug at the Volunteer pub near Holmbury St Mary for an early hour before meeting up with Grahame and Colin at Peaslake.

Holmbury Hill was the order of the day, including a few repeat runs on Yoghurt Pots. Doug was starting off a bit nervous of what to expect on the wet ground but he needn't have worried, the skills course he got recently has worked wonders (http://www.astoundingadventures.co.uk). There was steady progression throughout the day, climbing over all the roots and finishing the day with clean run through Yoghurt Pots and then Telegraph Road.

Doug and myslef finished at 12 with sandwich at the Volunteer while Grahame and Colin carried back to Peaslake.

Looks like you had fun, glad to hear your new found confidence is flourishing Snoop . Your right about the weather too, when it's a grim day the MTB is great fun and often nicer as you're under tree cover for a lot of the time. The only downside is the cack on the bike but with a bike wash at the finish of your ride problem solved.
